INTERACT PRESENTS FREE READING
OF PHILADELPHIA PLAYWRIGHT WARREN HOFFMAN'S NEW DRAMA THE LAST
On Sunday, October 26 at 7:00 p.m., InterAct is proud to present a concert-style reading of Philadelphia playwright Warren Hoffman's new drama THE LAST. The one-night-only event will be FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC and take place at InterAct's home on the mainstage at The Adrienne, 2030 Sansom St, Philadelphia. No reservations are necessary.
Commissioned through a grant from the Foundation for Jewish Culture, THE LAST tells the story of Rosa Schwartzman, the world's last Holocaust survivor, who finds herself being sent against her will on a Holocaust Awareness tour by the Foundation for Remembrance, Inc. Accompanied by Daniel, a young go-getter from the Foundation, Rosa is trapped by a media frenzy that can't print commemorative "Never Again" t-shirts fast enough as she travels around the world from New York to Auschwitz. A darkly funny and disturbing look at how mass death and tragedy is remembered in the 21st century, THE LAST asks tough questions about memory, consumerism, and identity where no one is innocent.

NATIONAL MUSEUM OF AMERICAN JEWISH HISTORY
CO-SPONSORS
FREE PLAY READING OF HOUSE, DIVIDED WITH INTERACT
On Monday, March 17, 2008, The National Museum of American Jewish History and Interact Theater Company are presenting a free reading of Larry Loebell’s play HOUSE, DIVIDED, on Monday, March 17, at 6:00 p.m. The Museum is located on Independence Mall East, 55 North 5th Street in Philadelphia.
The play is being held in conjunction with Shaping Space, Making Meaning, the new changing exhibition at the Museum, which offers visitors the opportunity to learn how a museum creates a major exhibition and at the same time have input into developing the show prior to opening. The exhibition, like HOUSE, DIVIDED, allows visitors to explore contemporary Jewish issues.
The National Museum of American Jewish History is in the midst of a $170 million Capital Campaign for a new Museum at 5th and Market streets on Independence Mall, across from the Liberty Bell and less than a block from Independence Hall. The new site is a block south from the Museum’s current location.
The new Museum, which will serve as a cornerstone of the modern-day American Jewish community, is dedicated to telling the still unfolding story of Jews in America - who embraced freedom with its choices and challenges as they shaped, and were shaped by, our nation. The Museum will welcome all people, inviting them to discover what they have in common with the Jewish experience in America, and to explore the features that make this history distinctive.
For more information, contact the Museum at 215-923-3811
or visit The National Museum of American Jewish History's Website.

INTERACT CELEBRATES 20th ANNIVERSARY
WITH 20 NEW PLAY COMMISSIONS
InterAct Theatre Company is pleased to announce the creation of the 20/20 Commissions, an ambitious initiative that will award twenty new play commissions over the next six seasons. Long established as one of the country’s most devoted producers of provocative, forward thinking new plays, InterAct seeks to use the commissions to explore the issues our society faces in the next twenty years through the eyes of the playwright.
InterAct plans to award roughly 2-5 commissions per season over the next six seasons, for a total of twenty commissions. There are two types of awards associated with the program:
• Development Awards, which may be given to works already in progress, and put toward further development with InterAct’s assistance. Plays receiving Development Awards cannot have had a professional production.
• New Play Commissions, in which a new, previously (or substantially) unwritten play is commissioned and aided in the development process by InterAct.
Development Awards will be $2500, while New Play Commissions will range from $5000 - $10,000. InterAct will accept proposals on an annual basis, with application cycles in each of the next four years.
