Erlina Ortiz

Erlina Ortiz was an apprentice at Interact during the 2012/2013 season. Since then, she has worked as resident playwright with Power Street Theatre Company where she has had three successful plays presented so far. The themes of these works have spanned from issues pertaining to gentrification, domestic violence, and rape culture, amongst many others. Erlinaalso regularly directs for Philadelphia Young Playwrights, and occasionally graces the stage as an actor. This year Erlina was thrilled to be accepted into The Foundry, a Philly emerging playwrights lab. In January 2017 she is very excited to be going on a 10 day trip to Chicago and San Francisco with the Amtrak Writers Residency program. She is grateful to have had the opportunity to be an InterAct apprentice as that was a great stepping stone for her career, and InterAct's mission of socially conscious theatre has been vital to the formation of her own personal mission as an artist. Erlina hopes to continue to make important work in Philadelphia and beyond.
