InterAct seeks up to two emerging theatre professionals to fulfill full-season apprenticeships. From September through May, apprentices gain comprehensive experience working at a small professional theatre company, participating in hands-on tasks in every department and gaining unique mentorship from InterAct staff and other local artists.

Season Apprentice

InterAct Theatre Company is offering part-time 2026-27 Season apprenticeships for emerging theatre professionals interested in what goes on behind the scenes. This program is intended to give apprentices hands-on experience in a professional theatre company’s administrative and production operations. Join the next generation of theatre professionals making theatre for today’s world.

For each of InterAct’s main stage productions, each apprentice will rotate in Front-of-House positions and Production Assistant. During these rotations, apprentices will be called for weeknights and weekends; weekly office hours will be adjusted accordingly.

Job Requirements: 

Apprentices will work 20 hours per week in the office during InterAct’s business hours. Primary office duties include box office, customer service, office administration and facilities management. Additional office duties will vary day-by-day, and may include assisting with marketing and social media, development and fundraising and literary management. 

During production, an apprentice can expect to work more than 20 hours a week (Rehearsal hours are typically Thursday - Sunday and times may vary).  You’ll be in the rehearsal room with actors, directors and often playwrights. You’ll assist the stage manager with day to day tasks. Once we are in tech, you will take on a vital role backstage.

Apprentices participate in season selection for the upcoming year, and other opportunities may arise to participate in new play development and casting.

Participate in one-on-one’s with industry professionals.

Attend the annual Barrymore Awards

Must be able to lift approximately 25lbs or less and stand for extended periods of time.

Weeknights and weekends are mandatory. 

Please note: The duties and structure listed are what we currently anticipate for the 2026-27 Season but are subject to change.

Apprentices receive an $800 monthly stipend; complimentary tickets to InterAct productions and other productions at The Drake; opportunities to work with local and visiting artists; introductions to local theatre professionals; and direct access to staff for professional development and mentorship. The 2026-27 Season Apprenticeship will run September 8, 2026 through May 2027. Housing and health benefits are not provided.
