Season Apprentice

InterAct offers full-season apprenticeships to qualified recent graduates of a BA or BFA program (or equivalent experience). Apprenticeships give individuals broad-based experience working in all aspects of a small professional theatre company’s operations, including production, literary, marketing, front-of-house, and administration.

Responsibilities

  • 20 hours per week at InterAct's offices, early September through June
  • Assisting with marketing, development, and office management
  • Rotate through House Manager, Box Office Manager, and Production Assistant/Assistant Stage Manager roles during production
  • Additional opportunities in outreach, season selection, play development, and casting may arise

Production Apprentice

InterAct offers full-season Production Apprenticeships to qualified recent graduates of a BA or BFA program (or equivalent experience). The Production Apprentices are required to work 20 hours per week which will be divided between production work, rental assistance, and the administrative office.

Responsibilities

  • 20 hours per week at InterAct's theaters and offices, September through June
  • Provide direct support on productions in the areas of lighting (hang, focus), audio install, video install, props construction, set construction, load-in, and strike
  • Assist with marketing, development, filing, mailings, technical needs of rental clients, and other office needs as they arise
  • Rotate through House Manager, Box Office Manager, and Production Assistant/Assistant Stage Manager roles during production
  • Additional opportunities in outreach, season selection, play development, and casting may arise

Requirements

  • Successful candidates should demonstrate skills, interest, and experience in technical theater, possess good communication skills, be detailed-oriented, and interested in learning more about the administrative side of theatre.  
  • Experience installing and operating audio equipment is particularly valuable.

InterAct Apprentices receive a monthly stipend, complimentary tickets, opportunities to work with Philadelphia-based and visiting artists, and direct access to staff for professional development consultation. There are typically opportunities for additional paid work at the theatre. Housing and health benefits are not provided.
